C4: The CCSU Computer Club Cluster

Summary: If funding is secured, use the Linux kit to network 30 PS2's in a high-speed LAN to be used as a cluster.

Goals: Build a model for adding PlayStation 2s to the two we already have.

Status: Planning. Tim knows most details.

Cluster Computing - Intro to Clusters

Summary: Setup a network of desktop computers that can act as a supercomputer through distributed computing.

Goals: Set up a project with an academic departments and begin interdepartment research.

Status: Planning. E-mail Rob to express your interest.

Tutoring

Summary: Members provide tutoring and help to students taking CS department courses. Tutoring is available to students of any major taking programming courses at CCSU, and is generally offered in the lab in MS 314.

Goals: Provide tutoring to all 100 level courses. Setup a CS Student Help Listserv and online bulletin boards.

Status: Active. Contact Will for info.

Robotics

Summary: Using the Handy Board or the EPIA M10000, build a robot capable of navigating the lab.

Goals: Explore the field of robotics and advance members' experience with the technologies involved.

Status: Contact Will if interested.

Linux

Summary: Installation, use, and administration of Linux systems, and also work with Linux on PlayStation 2 and for robotics.

Goals: Support the PlayStation 2 projects and the robotics project using the EPIA M10000 platform.

Status: Contact Will if interested.

Game Programming

Summary: Explore game programming through projects.

Goals: Potentially, setup a development environment on the PlayStation 2 with Linux Kit. A PC computer game should also be started, probably before the console project.
