The Computer club is still active! We meet every Wednesday at 8pm. We just got access to our webserver. Please check the website for future updates.

October 4, 2004

Last week's Meet the Faculty event went very well, drawing attendance from about 30 students and 10 faculty. Many thanks go to Professor Mark Friedman, Dr. Joan Calvert, and the Computer Science Department for organizing and co-sponsoring the event. Thank you also to our faculty for sharing their interests and thoughts with the students. It was a great "first" for the Computer Science Department and the Computer Club, and we look forward to another one in the Spring.

The 10 pizzas and dozens of drinks were totally consumed within an hour.

September 8, 2004

We are running a table at the Club Fair from 10am-4pm in the courtyard outside the Student Center (near the mall). If anyone can come and help Dave recruit for any amount of time, it would be very helpful!

Also, we are planning a Student/Faculty Social with the Computer Science Department. We hope to finalize the time/date/location next week on Tuesday.

Thanks to Sue Sweeney and Rosario Soares down at Student Activities/Leadership Development, we were able to complete a major purchase order of two PlayStation 2 console systems. A Linux Kit (by Sony, no longer available) arrived in May and we will be setting it up with one of the PlayStation 2s, and we will configure the second PlayStation 2 to boot into Linux by alternative means. We will explore cluster computing and console game programming with the PlayStation 2s.

Most of our online activity has been moved onto our Wiki, located at http://luna.cs.ccsu.edu/. Hosted on our Club Server, the Wiki includes publicly editable webpages, message boards, and file/picture galleries. Registration is free, and allows you to edit any page and post in the message boards.
